Milan—Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry and the organization behind The Grammy Awards have signed a three-year partnership that will have the Italian fashion brand designing a special-edition collection of Grammy watches and jewelry, with proceeds to benefit the programs of the Grammy Museum.
Frida Giannini, Guccis famed creative director, will design the collection.
For the fashion house, the new partnership with The Recording Academy, which is famous for The Grammy Awards, underscores Guccis long-standing relationships with many iconic musical artists, who are among Guccis most loyal clientele. In addition, the partnership strengthens the brands commitment to the preservation of the arts, the company said in a media release.
A partner of Martin Scorseses nonprofit organization The Film Foundation, Gucci has helped to restore six classic films over the course of a five-year relationship. Meanwhile, the new partnership with The Recording Academy will support the programs of the Grammy Museum, a nonprofit dedicated to the restoration and preservation of milestone musical recordings.
"Music, much like film, is such a vibrant part of todays culture and it also frequently provides inspiration for my work as a designer," Giannini said in a media release. "As a fashion house with a rich history built over nearly 90 years, Gucci is proud to be at the forefront of initiatives like this that support the preservation of the arts."
